* The 2014 Mercedes-Benz GLK-Class has an aggressive stance, with gorgeous sculpting on its side profile, a bold oversize grille, and large windows for superb visibility. One year after its makeover, it continues to turn heads everywhere. It is offered in two models, the GLK250 BlueTEC, and the GLK350. The GLK250 BlueTEC comes equipped with a 200 Horsepower, 2.1-liter, inline-4, twin-turbo clean diesel engine, paired with a 7-speed automatic with shift paddles. The GLK350 has the same transmission, but is packing a 302 Horsepower, 3.5-liter, gasoline Direct Injection V-6 engine under the hood for serious performance. While both models offer 4MATIC all-wheel drive, the GLK350 also gives you the option of available Rear-wheel Drive. Both ride proudly atop gorgeous 19-inch, triple 5-spoke wheels. The experience of the GLK interior is simply superb, and will immerse you in comfort and luxury. It is finished with soft-touch materials, and possesses an intuitive and clean instrument panel, Burl Walnut wood trim, and 8-way power-adjustable front seats. Option packages abound for the GLK-Class. There is the available Premium 1 Package, which features items such as a power lift gate, panorama roof, and media interface. Or, the optional Leather, Lighting, or Interior Ambient Lighting Packages might be to your liking as well. The available Multimedia Package is tough to resist with a 7-inch color screen, navigation system, rear view camera, 10GB of space for your music, and Dolby Digital 5.1 sound if you also order the available harman/kardon sound system. Further, it boasts improved Voice Control for navigation, telephone and audio. Plus, the optional Lane Tracking Package gives you Lane Keeping Assist and Blind Spot Assist. Standard safety features include 9 airbags, Automatic Brake Drying for better stopping power in wet weather, hill start assist, and NECK PRO front headrests which move forward and slightly up to help reduce the severity of whiplash injuries. • My favorite of the cars Ive owned

I bought this car (GLK250 Bluetec) to take the place of my bad weather SUV (18 mph) and my good weather hybrid (35 mph) and I couldnt be happier. I average 30 mph combined city and highway, and have gotten 40 mph on long highway trips. I get to bypass a lot of gas stations. It is very comfortable with good seat adjustments, good visibility, and is a lot of fun to drive. On the backroads, its like driving a go-cart. The cargo area has been large enough for all of my needs. My only complaint would be that a little more leg room in back would have been nice, but I dont haul a lot of people around, so its not a big issue for me. Ive not had any problems with this car and have not found the maintenance to be expensive. (I dont take it to a dealer.) And I love the aesthetics of the body styling and interior.

The only minor issue I have is sometimes the ride is a little stiff but then that could be me getting older. I will drive from Illinois to DC in one day, totally enjoying how comfortable the multi-positioning seat for the driver is, how open the glass areas are, how responsive and how reliable this car is. I looked at newer Benz as this one is a 2013, but have not found a newer model I like as much. This GLK350, 4 WD, panorama roof, tech package, multi-disc, navigation vehicle is small enough to fit in tighter parking spaces but tall enough to see in the distance. The automatic trunk opening and space is terrific for shopping, storing and carrying. Back seats fold down. I have had only normal maintenance, no problems. To date, 5 years after ordering this car, there are no recalls. The quality is obvious. Super vehicle.
  • A sweet ride in, a boat to drive

This is actually my mother's car (I drive a brand that begins with a P), but I've driven it frequently enough to form an impression. Reliability seems to have been a non-issue over 2 years, although a front suspension/shock groan has surfaced recently. The Mercedes-Benz hallmarks are all here. Cabin is impressively stiff and isolated for the price. Doors shut with a sound that whispers money. 80 mph feels like 50. And so on. Car has the Premium Package w/ Nav, getting typical toys like power tailgate and rear camera. Synthetic seats are a tad rubbery, but TOUGH as nails and do not appear to wear at all. Wood trim and silver accents are old-world-elegant, and the interior is generally angular and conservative. These are what keep my mother going back to the brand. Very Benzo. Unfortunately, that's where the positives end. It doesn't seem to be any more frugal than the ML350 that it replaced, struggling to reach 23 mpg highway despite weighing 800 lbs less than the ML. Throttle response of a fishing boat. The rudder...it's a rudder. Suspension is very soft and not even well-damped. The car begs for straight lines. Don't think about off-roading with those delicate 19" wheels, which are pretty but a nightmare to clean. Overall, best experienced from the [front] passenger seat. Back seat is tight.
