Reviews:
* Looking for a no-compromises luxury SUV with comfortable accommodations for seven, exceptional urban maneuverability and a sticker price that won’t break the bank? The 2014 Acura MDX won’t disappoint. Above all, the MDX’s reputation for long-term reliability, low maintenance costs and upstanding resale value equates to one of the most rewarding ownership experiences in the business. * The Acura MDX has been completely redesigned for 2014. Acura engineers have refined its sophisticated curves using the wind tunnel, and now the MDX is 17 percent more aerodynamically efficient than before. It has been adorned with gorgeous Jewel Eye LED Headlights, which have been designed to help improve reaction times and lessen eyestrain. With SUVs and Crossovers, keeping vehicle weight low is important. Acura worked some engineering magic when they shed 275 pounds from the vehicle, all the while increasing unit body rigidity using hi-tech lightweight materials. It is approximately 2-inches longer than before, and second and third row passenger space as well as cargo space have been improved. Engineers have also gone to great lengths to make the MDX quieter with acoustic front glass, sound-deadening materials, and active noise cancellation. On the inside, drivers will find comfort and luxury amidst high-tech advancements. The dash has been given a new look, and the arrangement of controls has been improved. To simplify things, Acura has moved many of the buttons that used to exist in the center stack, and made their functions accessible in the 2 improved screens. The MDX comes standard with a 3.5-liter, 290-horsepower V-6, i-VTEC engine, which gets an EPA estimated 20 MPG City and 28 MPG Highway. It has a 6 -Speed Sequential SportShift Automatic, with two different auto modes, and the ability to switch to manual control where you can change gears with paddle shifters on the steering wheel. The MDX comes standard with a very generous assortment of standard features. Some of the items are the Multi-View Rear Camera, Anti-lock Brakes, USB iPod Integration, Vehicle Stability Assist, Bluetooth HandsFreeLink, and a Power Tailgate. Optional packages give you amazing items as well. Some of them are Acura's Next Generation Navigation System, the Forward Collision Warning System, ELS Premium Sound System, and a 16.2-inch split screen display. Come drive the 2014 MDX today! • Great value for midsize SUV

    By Mcb345 on Tuesday, January 02, 2018

Its not quite a BMW, Mercedes, Audi, etc in terms of driving dynamics or interior finishing, but then again its not quite Honda Pilot, Toyota Highlander, Volkswagen Atlas, etc. What it does is straddle the difference between these cars and it does it for a great value. Tech Package AWD is the best bang for your buck although with the 2017 and 2018 including all the safety features standard along with Car Play (2018), a 46k AWD base model is a fantastic value! For 50k you get AWD Tech with most of the bells and whistles. Compared to similarly equipped luxury suvs its WAY cheaper. Drives very well, not too sporty but good enough for a kid hauling / semi sporty SUV. You wont be driving this like a Porches Cayenne so dont be confused, its not that kind of SUV but to take a corner a little faster than usual or flooring it on the on-ramp it puts a little smile on your face. Again, the value is key with this car. Interior quality is very good, the car looks pretty nice on the outside too. Finishes are nice looking, not Audi A7 nice but again, much much cheaper with equipped with similar options. 9 speed transmission is slow and cumbersome and somewhat encourages mundane driving but hit the sport button and all that changes. I wish the 7 speed dual clutch in the Hybrid was available in the non-hybrid model for more fun driving but beggers cant be choosers! For a safe, kid hauling / comfortable semi-sporty SUV, this hits the nail on the head. Yeah Id rather be driving a fully equipped Audi A7, but for 70k+, no thanks.
  • Great car, terrible voice recognition, good GPS

By Alex on Tuesday, December 10, 2019

Car is excellent throughout BUT it has the worst voice recognition system I have ever experienced. I am forced to use my android cellphone in order to use the cellphone guidance program. The map and GPS portion is OK but the voice guidance is miserable. Acura can save some money, gain better review by discarding their voice recognition system in favor of any of the other much more capable programs out there. Cant understand this great failing on Acura part when any cheap smart phone has immeasurably better voice recognition and GPS guidance
  • Spacious, sporty, a beast in the snow.

I have the Aspec version and I’m very happy with it. It’s nice looking, it’s quiet and comfortable but has lots of power and handling when needed, and I have never felt more in control in snowy conditions in an automatic transmission car ever (Including a 2002 and 2004 pathfinder, 2004 Lexus RX-330, nor 2016 infinity QX60.) Put it in sport mode and control speed with the paddles and it’s amazing. The reviews on this car are surprisingly critical considering what you get. Sure you can pay a lot more (an additional $50K) for a 3 row BMW, Mercedes, but for the price, what the MDX delivers is really impressive. For the haters of the voice automation? I’m sure Acura assumed you would use Apple play which works amazingly well.
